Mission Statement: The mission of the Medical Research Junior Board Foundation (“MRJBF”) is to support pediatric medical research being conducted at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Research Center.
Founded in 1992: The MRJBF is an Illinois not-for-profit organization and serves as a junior board to the Children’s Research Fund. The Children’s Research Fund, an auxiliary board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Foundation, has been raising funds for medical research in Chicago since the 1950s. Both the MRJBF and the Children’s Research Fund work under the umbrella of the Lurie Children’s Foundation to promote activities and community awareness for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Board Members: The MRJBF has 65 members consisting of young professionals in the Chicago metropolitan area, ranging in age from 22 to the mid 30s. The MRJBF meets one Tuesday a month.
Fundraising: To date, the MRJBF has helped Lurie Children’s Foundation raise over $1 Million for pediatric medical research initiatives conducted at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Children’s Hospital of Chicago Research Center.

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s 1,100 pediatric specialists focus on more than 70 specialties in 15 locations. As Illinois’ only freestanding hospital dedicated to children, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago treated over 140,000 children in 2009. Due to ongoing community support for quality medical services, the hospital invested over $96 million for community benefit programs in 2009, enabling families of all economic status to obtain the best medical treatment for their children. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the hospital moved to a new location in the Streeterville area on June 9, 2012 (Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago).
Events Benefiting Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago: The MRJBF has hosted many well-attended social and educational events in the Chicago metropolitan area to help raise significant funds for research. Our Annual Spring Event, various special events, and our signature Cocktails for a Cause Event (CFC) attended by 600 people combined to raise over $100,000 in 2012.
