MRJBF EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS OF 2011
2011 KICKOFF EVENT AT THE UNDERGROUND
One of the most popular bars in Chicago, The Underground, helped kick off the 2011 MRJBF fundraising campaign by hosting a happy hour in February. Rockit Ranch Productions graciously hosted the event and welcomed over 250 young professionals. With two hours of open bar plus appetizers, guests enjoyed themselves while listening to a live DJ spinning music. This event helped raise over $5,500 for the MRJBF.
ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION AT HUB 51
MRJBF continued the tradition of partnering with HUB 51 over the 4th of July weekend. HUB 51 offered drink specials to their guests as well as a Sunday morning brunch special during the holiday weekend. The event raised over $1,100.
TZAR ULTRA LOUNGE OPENING WITH MRJBF
TZAR Ultra Lounge graciously partnered with the MRJBF during their grand opening period. The Lounge kindly donated 10% of all drinks and $100 from each bottle of alcohol purchased at the event on May 25, 2011.
MR. 312 SALON FUNDRAISER
In conjunction with MRJBF, Mister 312 Salon conducted a month-long special in September 2011. Forty percent of the proceeds from services provided to new customers who mentioned MRJBF were donated to the Children’s Memorial Foundation.
19TH ANNUAL COCKTAILS FOR A CAUSE (“CFC”)
This annual event attracts over 450 Chicago-area professionals and philanthropists. The evening features an exciting live and silent auction, live entertainment, and a variety of food and beverages are donated by some of Chicagoland’s premier restaurants and bars. Our CFC event has generated over $100,000 in proceeds for pediatric research initiatives at Children’s Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Research Center each year. Proceeds from tonight’s event will also support Heroes for Life: Campaign for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
EXCLUSIVE CHILDREN’S MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TOURS
Throughout the year, members of the MRJBF participated in tours of Children’s Memorial Hospital and the Children’s Memorial Research Center. The exclusive tours are not available to the public and give our members an opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes at the hospital. Members gain perspective and education about pediatric research and its significant importance in medicine.
NEW HOSPITAL TOUR
MRJBF members participated in a tour of the currently under-construction Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. This hard-hat tour provided our members with the opportunity to see the hospital while it is still being built, as well as an early view on the state of the art facilities available to the public when the hospital opens in June 2012.
ERIC & KATHY RADIOTHON
In September 2011, MRJBF board members were given the opportunity to volunteer at the Eric and Kathy 36-Hour Children’s Memorial Hospital Radiothon. Members actively participated by answering phones for listeners calling in to donate. The Radiothon is a powerful, emotional fundraiser for Children’s Memorial Hospital and members of the MRJBF appreciate the unique opportunity to participate in this event.
